Frances B. Crooke

West Asheville - Frances Elizabeth Ballard Crooke, 101, of 90 Fairfax Avenue, went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry Ballard and Annie Mae Thomas Ballard Harris, and the wife of the late Hobert Crooke who died in 1963. She had retired from W.T. Grant Company in 1975 where at the time of her retirement, she served as Office Manager. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Asheville and current member of Avery's Creek Christian Church. Surviving are her son, James Robert "Bobby" Crooke of the home; several nieces and nephews and several close friends, including Marie Hall. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Pisgah View Memorial Park with Rev. Stephen V. Oxner officiating. There will be no formal visitation, but friends may visit at the cemetery following services.
