Floyd Calvin Wise

Asheville - Floyd Calvin Wise, 87, of 35 Galax Avenue passed away Sunday, August 17, 2008 at his home. A native and life long resident of Buncombe County. Mr. Wise retired from Sealtest Dairy after 31 1/2 years of service, was a member of Grace Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army-Air Corps during World War II. He was a son of the late David Thomas Wise and Loretta Columbus Haney Wise and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Dottie Lee Wise and brothers, Roy A. Wise & Tony Arvil Wise. Suriving are his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Ball Wise of the home; daughter, Judy Ann Haney & husband, Rev. Lester A. Haney of Gaffney, SC; son, Dennis Calvin Wise & wife, Cindy Sluder Wise of Leicester; grandchildren, Rachel Marett & husband, Chad, Lori Maynor, Lester A. Haney, II & wife, Steffanni, Anna Childress & husband, Brad, Andrew C. Wise, Dottie Penland & husband, Danny and Amy Cogdill; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Cooper of Powtahan, VA; brother, Howard T. Wise of Asheville; several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Wayne Adkisson officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Larry Ward, Burnice Duncan, Albert Kanipe, Chad Marett, Lester Haney, II and Brad Childress. Honorary Pallbearers will be George White, Carl Frady, Bill Quakenbush, Buddy Gaither, Joe Wright and Dick McCurry. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
