Florine Hembree

Asheville Florine Rogers Hembree, 86, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Charles George VA CLC. Born May 6, 1923 in Andrews, Mrs. Hembree had resided in Buncombe County for the past 35 years. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Army. Mrs. Hembree was the daughter of the late O.W. and Haseltine Hensley Rogers, and the wife of the late Hoyt Hembree. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Mabel Nesmith, Sadie Taylor and Juanita Campbell; and brothers: Walter Rogers, Bruce Rogers, Paul Rogers, and Ed Rogers. Surviving are her son, Keith L. Hembree and wife Carolyn of Asheville; grandchildren: Carrie Kerr and husband Anthony of Edneyville and Ryan Kennedy of California; sister, Susie Scroggs of Hendersonville; brothers: Charles E. Rogers and Vaughn Rogers, both of Florida; a special niece, Diana Houston of East Flat Rock; and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Morningside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Babb officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Peachtree, NC. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
