Fair Ellen Deitz

Asheville - Fair Ellen Stephens Deitz, 75, of 827 Pearson Bridge Road, passed away Monday, January 12, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A native of Swain County, she had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a homemaker, and was a member of Clayton Avenue Freewill Baptist Church. Fair Ellen was the daughter of the late Huff Stephens and Emma Clampett Thomas. Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Kelton Marshal Nathaniel Jack Deitz; daughters: Rose Ellen Lindsey and husband Joe of Asheville and Kathy Whitson and husband Bryan of Candler; sons: Charles Deitz and wife Debbie of Mars Hill, Bobby Deitz and wife Vivian of Leicester, Carl Deitz and wife Judy of Asheville, Johnny Deitz and wife Rose of Leicester, Jeff Deitz and wife Nancy of Asheville, Toby Deitz and wife Shelly of Asheville, Jamie Deitz of Asheville, and Wesley Deitz of Asheville; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
