Asheville Evelyn Viola Black Masters, 83, formerly of 81 Spooks Branch, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Brian Center of Weaverville. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Masters worked for many years as an in-home aide and caregiver. She was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Masters was the daughter of the late Cleveland and Pearl Dillingham Black, and the wife of the late Cecil W. Masters. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Wayne Masters; brothers: Arvin, Leonard, and Arnold Black; and a sister, Betty Black. Surviving are her son, Laddie Masters and wife Marlene of Burnsville; granddaughters: Ann Freeman and husband Ricky and Christy Turbyfill and husband Phillip; four great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Dan and Debra Gaddy officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Saturday at the funeral home. The family would like to express a heartfelt Thank You to the physicians and staff of the Brian Center in Weaverville for the care and compassion that they have shown to Mrs. Masters.
