Evelyn Jackson Garland

Asheville Evelyn Jackson Garland, 62 of 805 Ridge Road died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. She was a life long resident of Buncombe County and formerly employed with Phillips Products. Mrs. Garland was a daughter of the late James Dewey Jackson and Lula Bell Hightower Jackson and was also preceded in death by her son, David Garland who died in 2004. Surviving are her husband, Donald Garland of the home; daughters, Wendy S. Brown of Candler and Melisa Austin of Asheville; son, Jeffrey Garland of Asheville; grandchildren, Maranda Pressley, LCPL Donald J. Garland, Samantha Brown, David J. Garland, Jeffrey Austin, Jr. and Joseph Austin; five sisters and one brother. Graveside services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Steven Loftis officiating. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
