Evelyn Buckner

Asheville Evelyn Lois Allen Buckner, 84, of 103 Elk Mountain Road passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Emerald Ridge. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of life. She retired in 1987 from Burlington Industries and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. Mrs. Buckner was the daughter of the late Lloyd Wade Allen and Lizzie Fox Allen and the wife of the late Nicholas Taylor Buckner who died in 1979. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Clara Burrell. Surviving are her children, Nick Buckner and wife Nancy of Burnsville, Geraldine Buckner and husband J.V. of Woodfin, Ronnie Buckner of Jupiter and Patricia Cannon of Weaverville; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 2:30 P.M. Thursday at Pisgah View Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 to 2 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
