Eva Rice Edwards

Morganton Eva Rice Edwards, 92 of 2380 Highway 70 E, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2005 at Valdese General Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Buncombe County, she had resided in Burke County most of her life. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church of Morganton, where she formerly sung in the church choir, was active in missions and other activities with the church. She was the daughter of the late Elisha and Hester Sprinkle Rice. She was also preceded in death by her son, John Burton Edwards. Surviving are her husband, Arthur Franklin Edwards, whom she married on October 20, 1933; her daughter, Emily Rebecca Edwards Bounds and husband Howard of Marion; two grandchildren: Jenai Bounds of Saluda and Jameel Bounds of Marion; four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Cora Shook of Weaverville. Funeral services will be held at 7 PM Tuesday at Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Rev. Burt Wilbur officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7 PM Tuesday at the church. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Weaverville.
