Eugene Wayne Hopper

Asheville - Eugene Wayne Hopper, 70, formerly of 11 Ben Lippen Rd., Lot 48, died Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe County, he retired after 32 years of service from the Maintenance Dept. of St. Joseph Hospital and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Hopper was the son of the late Willie and Edith Vaughn Hopper and was the husband of the late Evelyn Granny Roller Hopper who died March 29, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his step children, Audrey Edmonds and Harold Buckner. Surviving are his sister, Billie Clemmons and husband Douglas Mac of Asheville; step children, Novella Collins and Donald Buckner both of Asheville; a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with the Rev. Dr. John T. Tiller officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
