Eugene C. Smith

Candler - Eugene C. Smith, 55, of 819 Monte Vista Road, died Saturday September 22, 2001 at St. Josephs Hospital. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. Mr. Smith was owner and operator of Asheville Auto Parts and H & S Auto Parts, a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War. He was a son of Frances Smith Earwood of Asheville and the late James E. Smith. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Judy McAbee Smith of the home; daughter, Marsha Smith of Candler; son, Kevin Smith and wife, Ramona of Leicester; grandson, Logan Smith; sisters, Darlene Parrott, Janis LaMore and Nena Wall all of Asheville, Shirley Greene of Weaverville and Kim McCraw of Candler; brothers, Arnold Smith and Patrick Smith both of Asheville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs Gene King, Stanley Taylor, G.A. McCurry and Bill LaMore officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at funeral home.
