Ethel W. Earwood

December 27, 1920 — July 2, 2006

Fairview Ethel Wilson Earwood, 85, of Fairview went to be with her Lord Sunday, July 2, 2006. A Native of Yancey County, She resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She attended Gashes Creek Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Bible Study Fellowship. Mrs. Earwood Retired from C.P. Clare Co. in 1991 as a Supervisor and Health Care Co-ordinator. She was the daughter of the late Charles Denver Wilson and Mary Ellen Hensley Wilson and the wife of Alvin Troy Earwood, Sr., who died in 1988. She was also preceded in death by her brother Edd Wilson. She was the Great-Granddaughter of the Legendary Big Tom Wilson. Surviving are her daughters, Loretta Catlin and husband, Doug of Fairview, Belinda Tweed and husband, Jerry of Cary, Janice Putnam and husband, Ken of Fairview; son, Alvin Earwood, Jr. and wife, Joyce of Fairview; grandchildren, Brian Catlin and wife Marian, Michelle Catlin and husband Jim Beers, Steve Earwood and wife Dawn, Josh Earwood and wife Gretchen, Nathaniel Earwood and wife Kris, Andrea Horsley and husband Rich, Matthew Putnam and wife Naarah, and Michael Putnam; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Allen of Barnardsville; brothers, Ward Wilson of Pensacola, Max Wilson of Asheville, Don Wilson of Barnardsville and Bill Wilson of Pensacola. Funeral services will be held 2pm Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Michael Putnam and the Rev. Lester Crayton officiating. Burial will be in Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O.
