Ethel Lunsford Parham

November 7, 1923 — July 20, 2009

Weaverville Ethel Elizabeth Corn Lunsford Parham, 85, formerly of 26 Lewis Higgins Drive passed away Monday, July 20, 2009 at The Laurels of Greentree Ridge. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired in December 1988 after 32 years of service with Mills Mfg. Company and was an active member of Riverside Baptist Church. Mrs. Parham was a daughter of the late Carl Harris Corn and Willie Deloria Laster Corn. She is also preceded by her two husbands, James Cecil Lunsford who died in 1969 and Howard Bradley Parham who died in 1989. Also, preceded in death by her sister, Jessie Dielmann; brothers, Harold and Jack Corn and great grandchildren, Dillon Bailey and Brandie McIntosh. She was the rock of her family, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed. Surviving are her daughters, Joan Smith-Davis (Bob) of Asheville, Clara Lunsford, Ann Bailey (Richard) and Cecile Lamb (Bill) all of Weaverville; 10 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; her special cousin, Michael B. Laster and her special friend, Emaline Jackson both of Weaverville. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. John Honeycutt and Rev. Bynum Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Elk Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family would like to say a special thanks to the entire staff of The Laurels of Greentree Ridge for their love, support and care for our Mother.
