Ernest L. Honeycutt

Leicester Ernest Lattie Honeycutt, 94, of 141 Sluder Branch Road passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at his home. A native of Yancey County. He had resided in Buncombe County since 1929, was a member of Newfound Baptist Church, was a lifetime member of American Legion, V.F.W. Post #891, D.A.V. and the Moose Lodge. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. Mr. Honeycutt was a son of the late Nathan Honeycutt and Flora Angel Honeycutt and husband of Ruby Wilde Honeycutt who died August 10, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mable Lee, Dessie Wright, Marie Penley, Ruth Pritchard and Dorothy Sexton and brother, Lewis Honeycutt. Surviving are his sister, Pearl Ligon and husband Fred of Leicester; brother, Boyd Honeycutt of Salisbury; several nieces and nephews, including Jane McMahan of Leicester; special friend, Jose Mercado and caregivers, Janie Chandler, Hilda Brooks, Virginia Lamb and Gloria Williams and his very special friend and caregiver, Karen Hughes. Funeral services will be held 3 P.M. Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Phillips and Rev. Mark Ball officiating. Burial will follow in Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 to 3 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to ones favorite charity.
