Emurytrude "Trudy" Surrett

Alexander Emurytrude Trudy Ray Surrett, 80, of 147 Gray Fence Drive, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Elizabeth House. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired in 2002 after serving for over 20 years as a Clerk in Buncombe County Central Records and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Surrett was a daughter of the late Gaither Decatur Ray and Queenie Victoria Luticia Tomberlin Ray and was also preceded in death by her daughters, Trudy Ann Surrett and Darlene McConnellouge. Surviving are her children, Patricia Swilling (Mike) with whom she made her home; Jamie Surrett (Fernell) of Flat Rock and Marcy Allen (Blake) of Piedmont, SC; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sister, Jo Ann Crompton (Chuck) of Leicester; two nephews and one niece. At her request, no services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to the Elizabeth House, 581 W. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731-9447.
