Emma Mcabee

Asheville Emma Maebelle Shipman McAbee, 93, of 523 Westwood Place, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Homer Delbert Shipman and Hazel Estelle Gentry Shipman. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Judge Allen McAbee who died July 15, 1989; son, Roger McAbee, daughter-in-law, Kathy McAbee (Ronnies wife), two brothers and four sisters. Surviving are her children, Judie Cranston (Al) of Marshall, Ronnie McAbee of Hendersonville, Dianne Brown (Michael) and Larry McAbee (Cathy) all of Asheville; daughter-in-law, Carol McAbee (Rogers wife) of Weaverville; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sisters, Louise Rainwater of Asheville, Vernie Austin of Elizabethtown, KY and Gladys McAbee of Asheville and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 4 PM Thursday, June 26, 2014 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with her grandson, Scotty Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the funeral home. Mrs. McAbees family would like to thank all the caregivers at the John F.
