Emma Jean Carver Jarvis, 78, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2017 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Western North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Manson Carver and Lucille Arrington Carver. She was also preceded in death by her step-son, Larry Eugene Jarvis. Mrs. Jarvis attended Cedar Hill Free Will Baptist Church, and retired from Enka BASF after 35 years. She was a loving mother and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, and spending time with her grandchildren and her cats. Surviving are her daughters: Deborah Jarvis Smith and husband Terry of Asheville, and Pamela Jarvis Stroupe and husband Douglas of Bent Creek; step-daughter, Billie Sue Black of Asheville; brothers: James David Carver, Sr. and wife Katherine of Swannanoa, and Joseph Manson Carver, Jr. of Icard; grandchildren: Crystal Stephenson, Kyle Smith, and Khristian Atkins; and nieces and nephews: James David Carver, Jr., Aaron Brent Carver, Kim Orders, Amanda Benfield, Tammie Frank, Kim Lax, and Cynthia Quincy. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Cedar Hill Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Boone officiating. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Khristian's Care Fund, 211 Summerglen Dr, Asheville, NC, 28806.
