Woodfin - Emagene Wilde Helms, 77, of 9 Nina Street, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Madison County, she resided most of her life in Buncombe County. She worked as a seamstress and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Mrs. Helms loved sewing, gardening, canning, and cooking for her family. She also loved attending church. Mrs. Helms was the daughter of the late Dwight and Alice Bishop Wilde and the wife of the late Bowden T. Helms. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Surviving are her children: Louise Wilde of Woodfin, Ellen Bridges of Arizona, Debra Fox and husband Wayne of Leicester, Annette Gunter of Asheville, Suzette Radford and husband Carlton of Marshall, Rev. Tom Helms and wife Tina of Candler, and Alita Almendinger and husband Joshua of Candler; sisters: Minnie Morrow of Leicester, Geraldine Helms of Asheville, and Margaret Wooten of Leicester; brothers: D.H. Wilde and wife Jo of Dumas, MS, and Frank Wilde of Marshall; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday at Fellowship Baptist Church, with the Rev. Zane Edmonds and Rev. Tom Helms officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 PM Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
