Ellen Irene Anderson

Asheville - Ellen Irene Anderson, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 4, 2003 at Huntersville Oaks. She was born in Polk County, NC and was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was a member of Asheville Full Gospel Tabernacle and had retired from J.C. Penny after 20 years of service. She was a caregiver for members of her family. She was a daughter of the late Claud Sherrill and Jennie Sutherland Sherrill. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Hipps and Helen Wheeler; four brothers, Ellis, Leroy and Dewy Hipps and Eugene Sherrill and an infant son, Sammy Anderson. Surviving are her two daughters, Lois Noah of Asheville and Lorraine Smith of Lake Norman; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie Warren officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
