Ella Wilson Rhodes

June 21, 1923 — January 14, 2012

Weaverville-Ella Wilson Rhodes: (88) of 180 Murphy Hill Rd. Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and servant of God has completed the greatest journey existence has to hold. She was born to Benjamin Wilson and Dora Graham Wilson on June 21, 1923, she graduated to her heavenly home on January 14, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years; Jay C. Rhodes, her son William C. Rhodes III and her grandson Christopher Jay Rhodes; as well as her sisters; Mae McElroy and Burdell Freeman and her brothers; Blaine, Wade and Coleman Wilson. Ella touched numerous lives during her time here; she never hesitated to share Christ with anyone that God placed in her path. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years at Pine Burr Park Baptist Church. She was a guiding force in lives of her nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren credit her with leading many of them to choose Christ as their Savior. Ella is survived by her daughter Lee Ann Wilson (Richard), her grandchildren; Melinda Noah (Albert), Darinda Noah (Ike), Daniel Wilson (Connie) and Marella Ogden (Christopher) as well as 7 great-grandchildren; Aaron and Andrew Dillingham, Meagan, Kaitlyn and Danielle Wilson and Logan and Aubrey Grace Noah all of Weaverville and her sister Hazel Currie of Gastonia. The family would like to extend unending thanks to the staff of Park Ridge Hospital and Four Seasons Hospice for the excellent and loving Christ-centered care that they provided, not only to Mrs. Rhodes but to the entire family. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 16 at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with the Reverend Jim Moore Officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Park Ridge Hospital (www.parkridgehealth.org).
