April 30, 1961 — February 6, 2011

Elizabeth (Libby) Lou Vance Johnson, born in Iredell County NC, April 30, 1961 to J. Allen and Ruby A. Gwaltney Johnson, died at home Saturday, February 06, 2011. Born with Down's Syndrome Libby was truly God's angel among us. She is survived by her brother Daniel H. Johnson of Arden with whom she made her home, her adopted Mother and the family of Mrs. Faye Underwood Hinson of Concord, NC and Florida, and two brothers of Statesville, N.C. J. Dale Johnson and Rickey A. Johnson. Libby was employed for the past 21 years with Handiskills - Goodwill Industries and for the past 20 years with Red Lobster on Tunnel Road. Special expression of gratitude goes to the staff and employees of Goodwill Industries, Red Lobster and CarePartners Hospice for their love and care for Libby. Libby brought such joy and love into the lives of all who knew her, for to know Libby was to indeed love her. She, in turn received beyond measure the love of so many. Libby's grace, quick smile, hugs, love of fashion and yes, wrestling on TV and her love for all is certain to be long remembered in the hearts of her family and many special friends. We are all so grateful to Libby for her presence among us. She will be our forever 'angel unaware' keeping watch over us. Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Private funeral graveside services will be held at a later date where she will be buried along side her parents who preceded her in death.
