Fairview Elizabeth Whitaker Jenkins, of 567 Old Fort Road, Fairview, passed on to her heavenly home on April 14, 2008 with her family by her side. Lib as she preferred to be called, at age 85 had fought a courageous battle with ovarian cancer since November 2005. She was the daughter of the late Robert Taylor Whitaker and Laura Wright Whitaker. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years Rev. Guy Jenkins, sister Lynn Wright and brothers Arvin, Claude, Robert (Rob), Clyde (Bud) Whitaker and sister-in-law Clara Sue Garrison. Lib is survived by her two children Janice Richardson and husband Jimmy of Fairview and Guy Arvin Jenkins and wife Kathy of Pickens, South Carolina. Three grandchildren Daniel Wright and wife Theresa, Vilonia, Arkansas, Melvin Wright and wife Ellen, Sparta, North Carolina and Koan Jenkins of Asheville. Three step-grandchildren Sonia Norton and husband Jody of Aynor, South Carolina, Danny Richardson of Fairview and Chad Richardson and wife Sherri of Austin, Arkansas. Twelve great-grandchildren, Jacob, Justin, Jesse and Jordyn Wright of Vilonia, Arkansas, Dylan Stephens, Mayflower, Arkansas, Hailey Edwards and Beth Wright, Sparta, North Carolina, Bronson Church Aynor, SC, Angel Richardson, Mt Pleasant, NC and Steven, Kristen and Elijah Richardson of Vilonia, Arkansas. Sisters, Martha Trantham, Weaverville and Mae Trantham, Fairview and sisters-in-law, Eula and Elizabeth Whitaker, Brothers-in-law, Robert (Gracie), Ray (Arlene) and Ralph (Patty) Jenkins. She had several nieces, nephews and long time friends that will miss her laughter and sense of humor that was so contagious through the years. She was a member of Laurel Pines Baptist Church, Fairview for more than 70 years. Pallbearers will be Daniel and Melvin Wright, Keith and Mike Whitaker, Paul and Richard Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Trantham, Robey Wright, Bruce Whitaker, Robert, Ray and Ralph Jenkins and Danny Richardson. The family will receive friends 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and the funeral service will be in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home at 3:00 P.M. Rev. Everette C. Haney, Jr. and Rev. Tony Stancil will officiate. At other times the family will be at the home of Mrs. Jenkins, 567 Old Fort Road.
