Elizabeth Hensley

Weaverville Cora Elizabeth Hensley, 92, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Mayflower Senior Care. A native of Yancey County, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1944. She retired from First Union National Bank following 40 years of service. Miss Hensley was a loving and faithful member of Newbridge Baptist Church where she served as choir director, organist, pianist, Sunday School teacher and her special love of working with the children at the church. Miss Hensley was the daughter of the late William Arthur Hensley and Mamie Mabel Jamerson Hensley and was also preceded in death by her siblings, Peggy Capps, Johnnie Hensley and Eddie Hensley. Surviving are her sister-in-law, Lois Hensley of Asheville; nephews, Jeffrey Hensley and wife Danielle and Aaron Hensley and wife Kristin; great nephew, Noah Hensley and great nieces, Claire, Keaya, Brooklyn and Saige Hensley. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, July 6, 2018 at Newbridge Baptist Church with Rev. Clark E. Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Friday prior to services at the church.
