Edward Vernon "Ed" "Buddy" Robinson

Burnsville - Edward Vernon Ed Buddy Robinson, 73, of 1365 Byrd Branch Road, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009. A native of Buncombe County, he had resided for a period of time in Spartanburg before moving to Burnsville. He retired as Manager of Quality Control for MPB Andrews Bearings in Spartanburg, and had worked with Carolina Knife for 11 years following his return to the Asheville area. Mr. Robinson was a former member and Deacon of Evangel Cathedral in Spartanburg, and was a US Army veteran, serving from 1958-1961. He loved to fish, camp, and hike. Mr. Robinson was the son of the late Edward and Dorothy Towe Robinson. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Vernon and Ethel Towe, and a sister, Shirley Robinson Hall. Surviving are his wife, Rhonda Ramsey Robinson, of the home; children: Lisa Robinson Shehan and husband Rick, and their children: Katherine Wheeler Shehan and Edward August EA Shehan, of Spartanburg, SC, Cindy Crowder and husband Bobby, and their son Kyle Austin Crowder, of Burnsville, and Rusty Williams of Burnsville; sisters: Wilma Jean Reagan of Asheville, Corena Robinson Pearson of Tennessee, Loretta Robinson Pittillo of Asheville, and Carolyn Robinson Reese of Asheville; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bruce Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
