Edward H. Lanzi Sr.

Edward H. Lanzi, Sr., 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was a son of the late Harry Lanzi and Catherine E. Scalzo Lanzi. He grew up in Newton, NJ where he met and married his wife of 51 years, the late Janet L. Simpson Lanzi. He later resided in Westland, MI for 30 years prior to moving to Buncombe County, NC in 1986. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of Bell United Methodist Church. Mr. Lanzi retired in 1986 from Dearborn High School where he was a social studies teacher, and wrestling and football coach. He later coached football and wrestling at Asheville School. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Harry Lanzi and Joseph Lanzi; and a nephew, Joe Lanzi, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Pfluger and her husband John of Leicester; son, Edward H. Lanzi, Jr.; grandchildren: Aleah Jones and husband Lance, and Jordan Pfluger and wife Vanessa; great-grandchildren: Nolan and Kason Jones, and another expected in November; nieces and nephews: Kelly Hannagan, Mike Lanzi, Linda Lanzi Woda, and Karen Lanzi. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Lanzi family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of CarePartners Hospice for their exceptional care for Mr. Lanzi.
