Edward "Eddie" Wallen

Asheville - Edward William Eddie Wallen, 99, passed away Sunday December 27, 2009 at the Universal Health Care Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He was a son of the late William and Julia Wallen and the husband of the late Louise Wallen. Surviving are his sister, Mildred Snyder of Woodfin; several nieces and nephews; step daughter, Rebecca Almond of Asheville; several step grandchildren and special friends and caregivers, Wayne and Barbara Burton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Bellflower officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military rites provides by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends for 1 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
