Edna Mae Hollifield

December 29, 1921 — January 28, 2007

Weaverville Edna Mae Ward Hollifield, 85, died Sunday January 28, 2007 in the Brian Center. A native and resident of Buncombe County for most of her life, she was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society. She was the daughter of the late George Ernest and Frankie Wheeler Ward and the wife of the late James Franklin Hollifield. Surviving are her sons, Al Hollifield and wife Lois of Kitty Hawk and Virgil O. Hollifield and wife Nancy of Woodfin; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. H. L. Wilson and Keith Watkins officiating. Burial will be in the Clarks Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before services at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Virgil O. Hollifield, 4 Martel Lane, Woodfin. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Brian Center in Weaverville for the love and care they gave Mrs. Hollifield.
