Greenville, SC Edna Kate McLean Parris, 92, formerly of 19 Valerie Drive, passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at the home of her daughter in Greenville, SC after an extended illness. Born in Madison County, NC on June 14, 1921, Mrs. Parris resided most of her life in Buncombe County, NC where she had been a member of Alexander Baptist Church and Freedom Baptist Church. She retired after a long career with Square-D Company of Asheville. Later in 1994, she moved to Greenville County, SC following other family members who had relocated there. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mildred Bryan McLean and the wife of Hugh Porter Parris who passed away April 27, 1972. Mrs. Parris was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Inez McLean Lunsford and two brothers, Om McLean and Poe McLean. Her family was her most important focus. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Letterman of Greenville; grandchildren, Dwayne Letterman of Travelers Rest, Todd Letterman and wife Ann of Hendersonville, Tracy Glancy and husband John of Greer and five wonderful great grandchildren, Taylor, Ashley, Callum, Logan and Aiden. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 PM on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Friday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Hugh, with Rev. Don House officiating.
