Ed Sluder

Candler - Royce Edward Ed Sluder, 77, of Candler, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. Sluder retired from ABF Freight Systems as Shop Supervisor for the Southeast Region. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and on the Board of Missions. He also served in the US Air Force. Mr. Sluder was the son of the late Burgin Levi and Frances Lee Parham Sluder. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Allie Jean Jones Sluder; children: Sheila Radcliff and husband Wendell, Royce A. Sluder and wife Barbara, Tim Sluder and wife Mandi, and Lawrence Sluder and wife LaDonna; grandchildren: Nathan Radcliff, Jason Radcliff, Cody Sluder, Andrew Sluder, Julia Sluder, Jenny Sluder, Cole Sluder, Austin Sluder, and Ali Sluder; great-grandchildren: Levi and Zebadiah Sluder; sister, Barbara Alexander; special family friends: Paige and DeeAnne Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Watkins and Rev. Andrew Sluder officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 9:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
