Earl Smith

Asheville Earlie Lee Earl Smith, 93, of 249 Waynesville Avenue, passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 at the Charles George VA Medical Center. A native of Tague, WV, Mr. Smith had resided in Buncombe County since 1945. He was a Master Watchmaker, and served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Smith was the son of the late Ben and Ida Tolley Smith. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Smith. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Anders Smith; sons: Harold Smith of Weaverville, Jack Smith of Candler, and Tommy Smith (LeAnn Deyo) of Asheville; grandchildren: Traci Smith of Weaverville, Vicki Smith of Asheville, Robby Smith of Asheville, and Brian Smith of Indianapolis, IN; five great-grandchildren; and special friends: the family of Euell and Nellie Bishop. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Day officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
