Asheville Dwight William Pressley, Jr., 82, of Asheville, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Dwight William and Scotty Wines Pressley. He was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School and was a member of French Broad United Methodist Church. Dwight was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the 720th Military Police Battalion in Tokyo, Japan. He was a Communications Chief, and was involved in two-way radio communications. He worked for Morgan Manufacturing Company, and retired from Drexel Heritage Company. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters: Dorthy, Ester, Ala Le, and Evelyn. Surviving are his wife, Junko Pressley; son, Dwight D. Pressley; niece, Shirley Lamb; sister, Velda (Paul) Penland; brother-in-law, Don Medlin; and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday at Mt Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Skyland, with the Rev. Cecil Robinson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, PO Box 88, Skyland, NC 28776. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting the Pressley family.
