Doug Clark

May 27, 1932 — August 3, 2008

Asheville William Grover Doug Clark, Jr., 76, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008 at his home. A native of Gaston County, he had resided in Buncombe County most of life. He retired from Acoustic Sealings and was a member of Happy Valley Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he had received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the Korean Service Metal, Combat Infantry Badge and the United Nation Service Metal. Mr. Clark was a son of the late William Grover Clark, Sr. and Lillie Jane Barnett Clark. Surviving are his wife, Emily Clark of the home, whom he married September 27, 1961; daughters, Teresa Bullman of Weaverville and Sharmon Clark of Asheville; sons, Clifford Clark & wife, Donna of Weaverville, Douglas Clark & wife, Susan of Lenoir, Ira Clark & wife, Bridgett of Swannanoa, Travis Clark & wife, Rhonda and Kyle Clark & wife, Laurie all of Asheville; sisters, Evelyn Kuykendall of Waynesville, Dorothy Young & husband, Harold of Weaverville, Diane Martinez & husband, Francisco and Barbara Tessner all of Asheville; brother, James Clark & wife, Wanda of Marshall; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Perry Burke and Rev. Russell Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Military Graveside Rites conducted by Buncombe County Veterans Memorial Team. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, N.C. 28813 for the wonderful care they have given to our loved one.
