Dorothy Mcleod

Asheville Dorothy Ester Manknell McLeod, 92, passed away Monday April 16, 2007 at her residence. Mrs. McLeod was born in Detroit, MI and had resided in Jacksonville, FL for most of her life prior to moving to Asheville in 1997. She was a daughter of the late Harold and Minnie Mainwood Manknell and the wife of Gerald Colon McLeod who died October 16, 1979. Mrs. McLeod retired as a Pediatric Nurse and was a member of the Church of Christ. A loving mother, she is survived by a son, Gerald Ray McLeod and wife, Alie of Birmingham, AL; 4 daughters, Barbara Ann Thornton of Griffin, GA, Patricia Elaine Matthie of San Diego, CA, Deborah Jean Ford and husband Don of Jacksonville, FL and Marilyn Yvonne Ramsey and husband Scott of Fairview; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 2 PM Friday at the Blanding Chapel of Hardage Giddens Funeral Home in Jacksonville, FL with Rev. Bob Dickey officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, N.C. 28813.
