Dorothy May Arrowood Anderson

April 2, 1924 — March 12, 2014

Dorothy May Arrowood Anderson, 89, of Asheville, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Flesher's Fairview Health & Retirement Center. A native of Buncombe County was the daughter of the late William Garrett and Grace Alma Bell Garrett. She was also preceded in death by her husbands Gordon Clay Arrowood and W.S. Anderson; sisters: Eloise Bridges, and Elizabeth Love. Mrs. Anderson was an active member of Asheville First Baptist Church where she was also in the Dorcas Sunday School Class. Surviving are daughter, Barbara J. Arrowood Gibson of Horseshoe; sons: Larry Jack Arrowood of Asheville, and Barry Joe Arrowood of Canton; step-sons: Bill Anderson and Jimmy Anderson; sisters: Ann Robilato of Philadelphia, PA, and Wilma Cox of Spartanburg, SC; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Monday, March 17, 2014 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Tommy Bratton officiating. The family would like to say Thank You to the staff of Fleshers Fairview Health & Retirement Center and Care Partners Hospice for their exceptional care of Mrs. Anderson. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Employee Fund at Fleshers Fairview Health & Retirement Center, PO Box 1160, Fairview, NC 28730.
