Dorothy Elizabeth King Farmer, 88, of Fairview and formerly of Maple Crescent Street, West Asheville, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at Fleshers Fairview Healthcare Center. A native of Dubach, LA, Mrs. Farmer had resided in Buncombe County since 1951. She had a long and storied career, working as a bank teller for First Union, in the clerical department of Belks, and was a partner in Weddings Beautiful before finishing her career at Gods World Publication. She was a member of Bent Creek Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Farmer was the daughter of the late Ernest and Euna Lee Forsythe King, and the wife of Blake Farmer, who passed away in 1972. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Florene Anthony. Surviving are her children: Jim Farmer (Debra) of Asheville, and Maida McMahan (Don) of Arden; grandson, Vince McMahan (Claudia) and great-grandchildren: Aldric and Adrienne McMahan all of Fletcher; sister, Corene King Ingalls and husband Irwin Ingalls of Elgin, TX; brother, James E. King and wife Grace of Jacksonville, FL; brother-in-law, Rev. Wilton Anthony of Many, LA; best friend of 59 years, and business partner, Elizabeth Crawford of Asheville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tommy Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Inanda Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 2:00 PM Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Farmers neighbors, who kept a watchful eye on her in her later years; the Care Ministry of Bent Creek Baptist Church; and the entire staff of Fleshers Fairview Healthcare Center, especially her caregiver Janet Davis, for her love and attention to Mrs. Farmer during her stay there.
