Dorothy "Dot" Hyams

ASHEVILLE Dorothy Dot Irene Gallion Hyams, 101, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was a member of West Asheville Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Hyams was the daughter of the late Aldolphus Liston Gallion and Carrie Goodson Gallion and the wife of the late Thomas Rollins Hyams. She was also preceded in death by 8 siblings and infant son, Norman Eugene Hyams and grandson, Scott Larsen. Surviving are her daughters, Jo Larsen and husband, Ken of Asheville and Mary Ann Wilkerson and husband, Don of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Beth Larsen & husband Scott King of Athens, GA and Donna Gabriel & husband John of Matthews; great grandchildren, Michael & Reese Gabriel and Kagen King; several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. A. Willis Gaines officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 to 2 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
