Doris Brown Shipman Burns

Asheville - Doris finished her journey on this Earth on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. Born in Sumter, SC, she moved to Asheville as a young child and has remained here ever since. In her many years of labor, she worked for several food service establishments and Servco. She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Arthur Brown; her mother, Emma McCoy Brown; and her daughter, Emily Inez Shipman. Surviving are her sons: Edward A. Shipman and Eugene R. Shipman, both of the home; brother, Cecil E. Brown and wife Nancy of York, SC; their daughter, Cecilia Lyles of York, SC; and several cousins, including Harry McCoy and wife Ann of Asheville. Graveside rites will be held at 2 PM Friday at Pisgah View Memorial Park, with the Rev. Darryl Searcy officiating. Doris has requested no flowers, please.
