Donnie Baird Rice

Weaverville - Donnie Baird Clinton Rice, 93, of 102 Brank Cove Road, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008 at the St. Joseph Campus following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Lenora Bell Clinton, and the widow of James Wesley Rice, who passed away in 1970. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Eulane Rice McCurry; brother, Thad Clinton, and sisters: Bernice Clinton McDaris, Fern Clinton Chambers, Juanita Clinton Fisher, and Vernon Clinton Wilson. Surviving are her daughters: Ann Rice Young and husband Bob of Weaverville, and Saundra Rice Rogers and husband Garren of Alexander; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 1 great, great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday at Salem United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Darrel Bowles officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
