Donald L. Roberts

WEAVERVILLE Donald Lamar Roberts, 79, formerly of 104 KyFields Towne Homes passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the Brian Center of Spruce Pine. A native and resident for most of his life in Buncombe County, he retired June 30, 1995 from the Buncombe County Solid Waste Environment Control Office as a Supervisor. He also was a former member of the Asheville & Woodfin North Asheville Lions Club, a member of the Mason Lodge #655 Decatur, GA, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #891, a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church and he was a U.S. Army veteran and recipient of two Bronze Stars during the Korean War as a Corp. of Engineer. Mr. Roberts was the son of the late John Arthur Roberts and Eva Jane Parker Roberts. Surviving are his wife, Carlotta Autrey Roberts of Asheville; daughter, Teresa Frances Roberts of Asheville; sons, Lamar Herbert Roberts of San Diego, CA and D.K. Pudge Roberts of Oklahoma City, OK; step sons, Frank Warren of Greenville, SC, Neal Warren of Asheville and Patrick Warren of Warren, MI; one grandson and four step grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Monday in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Chris Roberts officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends 4 to 5 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
