Donald Everett Barnes

October 4, 1932 — December 3, 2002

Asheville - Donald Everett Barnes, 70, of 56 Hunt Hill Place, Apt. 3-F died Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at Blue Ridge Health Care Center following an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was a member of the Salvation Army of Asheville where member of the Mens Club and served as a volunteer for the Manna Food Bank. Mr. Barnes was a son of the late Theodore and Julia Brown Barnes and was also preceded in death by brothers, Buster Barnes, Roland Boobie Barnes and Garland Barnes and sisters, Myrtle Williams, Gladys Dunn and Deborah Elizabeth Yaptangco. Surviving are his wife, Victoria W. Barnes of the home; children, Belinda W. Moody and husband, Aaron, David Barnes, Rita Gayle Sharpe and Annette Barnes all of Asheville; sister, Alice B. Corn of Asheville; 7 grandchildren and several neices, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Captain Robert D. Lyle and Rev. Frank Cantrell officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army Mens Program, P.O. Box 1778, Asheville, NC 28802.
