Don Ward

Asheville Donald Victor Don Ward, 82, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was former Owner & Operator of DV Ward Construction Company. Mr. Ward was a son of the late Carl Victor Ward and Julia Taylor Ward. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Roberts Ward who died February 26, 1989, second wife, Selma Ramsey Ward who died November 13, 2008, brothers, Hilliard Ward and Conrad Ward and sisters, Evelyn Smith and Lois Hyatt. Surviving are his daughter, Donna Kellis and husband Mike of Weaverville and their children, Lauren Ackermann (Jeff) and Megan Kellis all of Durham; son, Larry Ward and wife Debbie of Candler and their children, Brittany Ward of Charlotte and Hunter Ward of Candler; step children, Becky Carter, Jim Wolfe, Butch Wolfe (Gwen), Rick Wolfe (Stephanie) and Phillip Wolfe (Becky Jane) and 9 step grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Grace Baptist Church, of which he was a member, with Rev. Nathan Pruett and Rev. Steve Ackerman officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the church and at other times, the family will be at the home of Larry and Debbie Ward.
