Weaverville Delta Mae Mashburn Ingle, 91, of 74 Huckabee Hill Road, formerly of Dunwell Avenue in West Asheville, went on her journey to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. She was a native of Madison County and resided in Buncombe County since 1960. She retired from F.W. Woolworths where she worked for 25 years at the candy counter and was widely known as The Candy Lady. She was the oldest member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, being a member for 63 years where she was a member of the Adult Ladies Bible Class, former Secretary of the Sunday School class and sang in the church choir. She was the daughter of the late George Washington and Cora Fisher Mashburn and the wife of the late Carl Vernon Ingle who died in 1971. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur, Sam, Willard, William, Lester and Elmer Mashburn; sisters, Maudie Sprinkle, Georgia Fisher, Minnie Edwards and several infant siblings, nieces and nephews. Surviving are her nephew, W.P. Fisher of Weaverville; nieces, Hilda Ball, Joyce Duyck and Freda Cato all of Weaverville and Geneva Ball of Marshal and numerous great & great great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Marshall, with Rev. Phillip Parker and Rev. Sherman Tweed officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with her great nephews serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the Anders-Rice Funeral Home, and at other times, the family will be at the home of Lamar & Joyce Duyck, 74 Huckabee Hill Road, Weaverville.
