Dell Mae Penland

Candler Dell Mae Penland, 98, formerly of 185 Brooks Cove Road, went peacefully to be with the Lord Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center following a period of declining health. A native of Yancey County, she had lived most of her life in Buncombe County. Miss Penland was a homemaker and dedicated most of her life to taking care of her brother, Euette. She was the daughter of the late William and Mallie Roland Penland. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Charleen Hensley Blankenship and four brothers, Euette Penland, Walser Penland, Hubert Penland, and Grier Penland. Surviving are her brother, Dennie Penland of Candler, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
