David Kimberly "D.K." Ellison

Asheville - David Kimberly D.K. Ellison, 76, of Asheville, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 11, 2004 at his residence. A native of Madison County and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, D.K. worked several years at the Biltmore Forest Country Club in maintenance, and later retired from the City of Asheville as a truck driver for the Sanitation Department. He was a member of Pisgah View Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was an avid music lover, having played guitar for several local gospel groups. Mr. Ellison was the son of the late George Washington and Hettie Curley Ellison. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Donie Juanita Ellison; three brothers: Ralph Caldwell, and John and Dan Ellison; and two sisters: Sadie Sams and Donie Lowe. Surviving are his wife, Agnes Gentry Ellison; two sons: Ralph Ellison and wife Vickey of Woodbridge, VA, and David Ellison and wife Rebecca of Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter, Hettie Buckner and husband James of Asheville; a sister, Myrtle Pinner of Asheville; seven grandchildren: David Coggrave, Anthony Ellison, Monica Ellison-Haynes, Lori Ellison, Heather Buckner, Sarah Ellison, and Dustin Buckner; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Revs. Billy Taylor and Van Harold Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of Hettie and James Buckner, 12 Westview Lane, Asheville.
