David Allen Price

Black Mountain - David Allen Price, of Black Mountain, passed away May 31, 2006 after a long illness at the age of 56. He was the oldest son of Ray and Ruby Bassett Price, both of whom preceded him in death. David is survived by his wife, Jennie Gass Price, whom he married on June 10, 1983. He is also survived by one brother, Ray Price, Jr. of Marion; two sisters: Dolly Faulkner of Asheville and Deborah Mayfield of San Angelo, TX; two uncles: Don Price of Morganton and Max Price of Black Mountain; and numerous nieces and nephews. David had a very close connection with his family members, his church family, and his extended family, such as Gee and Brenda Rathbone and Bennie and Sarah Ray. David was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County, and was a member of Inanda Baptist Church in Asheville for about seven years, where he was a faithful member and served as Trustee. He was a US Army veteran, and was a steadfast friend to many and touched the lives of everyone who met him. David was a Jack of All Trades and excelled in all projects he undertook and his strong work ethics sustained him for every job. Until his disease debilitated him, He was always eager to help his fellow man with one task or another. David was loved by many and will be missed so much. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry House of Inanda Baptist Church and Rev. Bobby Smith of Zion Hill Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Tracy Grove Road in Hendersonville. Pallbearers will be Roy Gass, Danny Gass, Donnie Maxwell, Robert Tony Wendling, J.C. Gass, and Johnny Gass. Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Ray, Gee Rathbone, Ralph Faulkner, William Maxwell, and Robert Sherlin. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Inanda Baptist Church, 590 Brevard Road, Asheville, NC 28806; Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813; or to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Asheville, NC 28801.
