Daniel Lee Thompson

Asheville - Daniel Lee Thompson, 74, of 106 Battery Park Apartments, passed away Friday, February 17, 2006 at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Health Care Center following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired from Matthews Ford as a service attendant. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he proudly served as usher for many years. Mr. Thompson was the son of the late Ellis and Julia Gaddy Thompson. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Kanipe Thompson, of the home; a brother, David Kennedy Thompson of Greeneville, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor Ralph Sexton, Jr., Rev. Allen Rash, and Ed Watts officiating. Private burial will be held on Monday at Piney mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery.
