Daniel "Dan" Harwood

Weaverville - Daniel Dan Lee Harwood, 84, of 120 Maney Branch Road, died Tuesday July 25, 2006 after an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late James and Sue Harwood. He was a resident of Magnolia Health Care on Victoria Road, which he called home. He retired from Abbott Construction after many years of service. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth L. Harwood; 6 children, Danny L. Harwood, Steven M. Harwood, Susie Harwood, James R. Harwood, Roger B. Harwood and Ronnie E. Harwood all of Weaverville; 2 daughters-in-law, Bethann Gudger Harwood and Angela Pangle Harwood; 3 grandchildren, Tyler E. Harwood, Zachary R. Harwood and Jeremy S. Harwood; 1 great grandson, Ethan; 3 sisters, Ruth Alexander, Alice Miller and Sarah Robinson all of Asheville. Dan will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Maney Branch Cemetery with Rev. Philip Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The Harwood family would like to thank Magnolia Health Care for taking care of Dan during his illness and to special friends Shirley Price and Charlie Revis for all their care and concern for Dan and his family.
