Cora Gosnell

Asheville Cora Fay Letterman Gosnell, 92, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Park Ridge Hospital. A native of Yancey County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She was formerly employed with Asheville Hosiery Mill, Gerber and Taylor Instrument and retired from Eaton-Cutler-Hammer Corporation. She was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church since the late 1950s and was a volunteer for the Council on Aging at Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Gosnell was the daughter of the late Arter Clingman Letterman and Pansy Pearl Fox Letterman and wife of Jefferson Conover Gosnell who died January 8, 1974. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Eva Patterson, Ola Ballard and Eula Lambert and brothers, Charles, Uri and Filmore Letterman. Surviving are her daughter, LaVada Gosnell Snelson and husband David and son, Robert Sanford Gosnell and wife Judy all of Asheville; 7 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; brother, Joe Letterman and wife Juanita of Candler and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, December 21, 2012 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Clontz and Rev. Bill Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Robert Gosnell, Jr., Richmond Jefferson Gosnell, Seth Buckner, Jimmy Burris, Jonathon Coy and Hunter Gosnell. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to: Sunrise Baptist Church Building Fund, 419 Deaverview Road, Asheville, N.C. 28806.
