Leicester Clyde Early Ayers, 79, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014 at his home in the Leicester community. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Ayers had resided for a short period of time during his childhood in his fathers hometown of Hartwell, GA before returning to Buncombe County. He began his working career as a sheet metal mechanic, and in later years as an independent telephone contractor, splicing cable mainly for Tutor and Yager Phone Company of Tipton, IN. He had attended Bent Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Ayers was the son of the late Floyd Barton and Aileen Mae Warren Ayers. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Hugh Alton Ayers and Donald Len Ayers. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Nancy Brown Ayers; son, Darryl Ayers and wife Rhonda; grandchildren: Austin and Justin Ayers; niece, Barbara Ayers King; cousins: Ruth Holcombe and Sherman and Raymond Lim; and a very special person in his life and our family, Danny Smith. Per Clydes request, no formal funeral services will be held. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Dr. Chang Lim, his P.A., Randy Sherlock, and the staff of Four Seasons Hospice.
