Claudia �Sue� Maltry

April 27, 1941 — July 15, 2018

Claudia Sue Maltry, 77, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Claude Allen Bassett and Mary Calloway Thomas and step-daughter of the late Huey Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Paul Maltry, Sr.; daughter, Joy and Andree Runne; sister, Rose Mary Thomas; and brothers: Claude Bassett, Roy Bassett, George Thomas, and Huey Thomas. Mrs. Maltry worked in the Hotel Industry for 60 years, during that time she worked at the Grove Park Inn, Double Tree Hotel, and Courts Motel. She was a member of Mt. Sheba Baptist Church. She is survived by children: Carolyn Bassett (Walter) of Weaverville, Brenda Davis of Candler, Revonda Shelton (George) of Emma, Ralph Maltry, Jr. of Woodfin, Huey and Kim Maltry of Weaverville, and Deborah and Brent Buchanan of Cashiers; sisters: Geraldine and Elden Robinson of Leicester, and Beverly King (Bill) of Candler; 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 18, 2018, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Rhinehart and Colby Maltry officiating. Burial will follow at Clarks Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 till 9 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her memory to: John F.
