Christine Phillips "Granny" Teague

January 30, 1921 — June 26, 2015

Christine P. Granny Teague, 94, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. This last sunset for her marks a sunrise in a much, much grander place. A native of Anderson County, TN, she resided in Buncombe County since 1949. She was a member of Cedar Mountain Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Grance Phillips and Elzie Lowe Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her husband George Kenneth Teague; sisters: Wanda Lee Patterson, Udena Phillips; brothers: Chester Phillips, Robert Lee Phillips, and Homer Phillips. She is survived by a daughter, Jeanette Carol Penley of Asheville; sons: Terry Lee Teague and wife Susan of Greenville, SC and Kenneth Ra-Mon Teague and wife Blinda of Asheville; sister, Zelma Blankenship of Oliver Springs, TN, brother, Odis Ray Phillips of Jacksboro, TN; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 29, 2015 at Riverside Baptist Church with Rev. John Honeycutt and Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Anders-Rice Funeral Home on Sunday from 7 till 9 PM. The Teague family would like to express a special Thank You to the staff of the Coli Critical Care Unit at St. Joseph Campus for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Forestville Baptist Church, Missions, 2 Old McElhaney Road, Greenville, SC 29617.
